The City of Cockburn is planning to implement erosion protection along CY C'Oconnor Beach.
The installation will be done in a staggered manner, subject to funding and the findings of the initial stages of the project.
To start, a trial engineered reef will be installed about 100m off the shore of CY O'Connor Beach in March/April 2022. The reef will be made of pre-cast concrete modules and is intended to protect the shoreline from erosion and to create a habitat for marine species.
